Hockey Clothing
The North American ice hockey market is a reflection of this. The sport has increased in popularity worldwide as well due to the introduction of synthetic ice.
The padding on the pelvis, thighs and hips of goalie pants is more substantial. Goalie jocks (also called jills) have reduced groin protection but more padding in front of the cup.
Apparel
Hockey players wear a lot of protective gear because the sport requires high-speed skating on hard surfaces. It is often physically intense, with players colliding often and often intentionally. The standard safety gear used by hockey players includes sticks, ice skates, a helmet with a visor, chest protectors, shoulder pads elbow pads, gloves and heavy-padded shorts (also called jock athletic protectors for men and jockstraps for women) "jills" for women) as well as a pelvic guard (also called a girdle (or "jill" for females) and thigh pads, hip pads, tailbone pads and shins. A neck protector could also be worn.
In recent times technology has been utilized to reduce the weight of ice hockey apparel and improve its functionality. Many companies use carbon composites in stick shafts and special foams to make shoulder pads lighter, without the protection. Other enhancements include 3D scans which accurately depict a person's body proportions to ensure that elbow pads knee pads and shinpads are made to be sized for each player.
The market for hockey is expected to expand over the next few years as more people become aware of the sport, and as synthetic ice rinks are built around the world which will allow players in areas where natural ice isn't available. In addition, there has been a growth in the number of female players which is good for market growth.

Jerseys
Jerseys are the uniforms worn by hockey players. They are typically made of heavier fabrics than those used in other sports, and have sleeves that are long. The jerseys are adorned with the team logo on the front as well as the player's last name on the upper back and the player's number between 0 and 99. Some jerseys also have the letters "C" and an "A" on the back, indicating the team's captain and alternate captain.
There are two kinds of NHL jerseys, authentic and replica. The authentic jerseys are made from the same material as the ones worn by the players, and they sport the same design. Replica jerseys are constructed from different (and typically less expensive) materials, and might not have the exact design as authentic jerseys.
The majority of NHL teams have 3 or 4 sets of jerseys worn during games. They also have some particular sets, for example heritage designs and charity events. Each jersey is fitted with a loop of fabric sewn to the inside back known as a fight strap which must be fastened to the pants of the player during a game to stop the jersey from being pulled over the player's head during a battle.
The Authentic Pro is a top-tier NHL jersey made of high-performance fabrics, with multilayered tackle twill as well as 3D embroidery. It also features reinforced stitching. Both men's and woman's styles are available. The Authentic Premier is a version of the Authentic Pro that is designed to replicate the look of jerseys worn by athletes on the ice.
Shirts
The sweaters, or jerseys of a team are the most well-known clothing. The primary logo of the team is displayed on the front and an additional logo is usually worn on the shoulders. A player's last name is displayed on the back of the sweater, and the player's name is placed below it--ranging from 0 to 99. Team captains wear an uppercase "C" above and to the right of their jersey's emblem, while two other players--designated as alternate captains--wear an "A" on theirs.
Most NHL teams have a third jersey, or alternate, that is worn for special occasions, like for the Winter Classic or Stadium Series. Many teams also have an old-fashioned or throwback option for their home jerseys. These third-sweater options allow teams to play around with new designs and often serve as an initial basis for the creation of their primary jerseys.
The Vancouver Canucks have a beautiful sweater that manages to blend traditional and contemporary design. The black and blue jerseys sport a bold style to them, which makes it easy to pick out on the ice, and the white stripes offer contrast. The Canucks also have a nice font on their numbers and names that gives a clean look of the jersey.
